Fit: A close gymnastics fit through the body, with fitted full-length sleeves and a scoop back. The neckline should sit neatly without gaping, and the shoulders and underarms should feel comfortable when moving. Individual fit can vary with body proportions and style.

Check torso length: Measure from the centre of one shoulder, down the front of the body, through the crotch and back up to the same shoulder in one continuous loop.

Try a gentle stretch: Ask your child to lift both arms overhead, bend the elbows and lean gently to each side. Check for pulling through the shoulders, underarms or torso. Sleeve ends should sit comfortably at the wrists, leaving the hands clear. If measurements fall between sizes, use girth as a key guide; the larger size is generally the better starting point.
