Bunheads BH315 – Measuring & Sewing Your Pointe Shoes

Lay out the lengths needed for both shoes before cutting, allowing enough for stitching, tying and tucking the ribbon ends. Confirm placement with your teacher or pointe shoe fitter, then label the pieces for each shoe to keep your sewing organised.

Dance World Tip: Plan for additional elastic if you prefer a crossed arrangement. Check your required lengths before dividing the elastic supplied.

• Satin ribbon - 2 yards / approximately 1.83 m, 7/8 inch / approximately 22 mm
• Elastic - 18 inches / approximately 45.7 cm, 3/4 inch / approximately 19 mm

Measure the pieces needed for both shoes before cutting.
Allow extra length for attaching each end, and follow your teacher’s or fitter’s guidance on placement and tension. The supplied elastic is intended for a single-loop arrangement; additional elastic may be needed for crossed elastics. Needle and thread are purchased separately.
